I guess the term is really going main stream. "Bro Country" (music) was the context. Songs about girls in tight jeans, big trucks and going down to the river.

Hah, NPR leading the charge with hip new (new being a decade old) lingo.

So basically why I stopped listening to country. Interesting.

NPR is many things, but 'taste makers' is not one of those things.

I wasn't alive in 1980.

Country rap is also a thing now. Big Smo (even has/had a tv show) w/ 7m views. He sounds too much like the fat one from ICP. Not totally convinced it's not him actually.

I made it to 2 minutes and cried uncle. Other than twang in the guitar, why is this country?

you made it further than I did. I'm guessing because he mentions tractors and moonshine? maybe? "Country" seems to have picked up a loose definition.

Truly saddening display. That's why the only country I listen to nowadays is on XM Outlaw or occasionally XM Prime Country.

As a guy who semi shamefully admits to listening to country quite a bit these days (seriously, the only radio stations that play music in the morning are country -what the hell guys?) I thought this video was hysterical.

Until Xm came along, there were swaths of this great nation when you didn't have a choice what to listen to. To quote the Blues Brothers: We have BOTH kinds, country AND Western.

Yeah well now I'm stuck with it because I'm not paying to add XM to my car. It's my daily driver and all modification cash goes to the Montego.
Soooo I listen to country on the way to work.

Heh. Round these parts you don't even get country. Just 5 different flavors of Tejano.

I'll stick to my actual country, thanks.

the word bro should only be used within the biker world, very few people have earned the right to use it, & an outsider saying to the wrong person may get cold cocked, or set straight at the very least.
I couldnt watch the video, skipped it around & stopped it, I myself am not a country music fan, there are a very few songs I like, unless you go back 50 or more years & then I do like the very old country music, as well as pre- 1970's Blues.
